What is a criminal records certificate?
It is a certificate that reports on criminal proceedings or crimes. There are, however, two types (see below).
What are the types of Italian criminal record certificates?
The CERTIFICATO DEL CASELLARIO GIUDIZIALE (CRIMINAL RECORDS CERTIFICATE), which reports if there are any crimes, sentences and/or final convictions in the civil, criminal and administrative fields; and​

The CERTIFICATO DEI CARICHI PENDENTI (the Italian name for PENDING PROCEEDINGS or OUTSTANDING PROCEEDINGS CERTIFICATE), which reports if there are ongoing criminal proceedings.
What is an Italian Criminal Records certificate for?
Often these certificates are required for recruitment, employment, legal purposes, political and voting rights, citizenship, visa etc., so you can prove that you were not convicted of any crime while you were in Italy.​
Also Immigration Authorities from foreign Countries (i.e. Australia, New Zealand, US, UK, Canada, India, Bangladesh, Pakistan... etc) could require them for immigration purposes.
How do I know which certificate I need?
This depends on the entity requesting this. They may require both, or only one. When only one is requested, this is usually the Certificato Del Casellario Giudiziale. However, we recommend that you check directly with the entity requesting the document if in doubt, to be sure you're ordering the right one.
Who issues a Criminal Records / Pending Proceedings certificate in Italy?
This is carried out by the Public Prosecutor's Office (Procura della Repubblica), as part of the Italian Police.

Can I have the certificate posted to me? Is this service available globally?
Yes, we can either issue the certificate to you online (digital copy) or we can post it to you (hard copy), anywhere in the world at an additional cost. The cost for postage is NZ$60.00 and this can be requested as an option when you order your preferred certificate on our order page.
If I order the wrong certificate, can I get my money back, or get the right one issued for free?
No. Unfortunately, if you order the wrong certificate and need the right one issued, we would not be able to refund the original costs and would need to charge for the new certificate as well. Therefore, we do strongly recommend double checking with the requesting entity to be sure of the one you need.
